Funeral Services for Harold W. "Bud" Rupp, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Reverend Mark Niethammer will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran's Organizations. Visitation will be at Bonnerup Funeral Service from 4-6 Tuesday and one hour before services on Wednesday. Harold died on November 24, 2011 at Just Like Home Place in Albert Lea. He was 94. His wife Beatrice had also died on November 24, 15 years ago in 1996. He was born on March 21, 1917, in Walters, MN, the son of Henry and Wilhelmin (Phafning) Rupp. He attended country school near Walters, MN, and then as a young man, began farming. Bud served our country in the U.S. Navy from September 21, 1943, until his honorable discharge in December of 1945. He had served in the Asiatic Pacific - 7th Fleet, ranked as First Class Gunners Mate. He had received 3 battle stars and recognition for sharpshooting and good conduct. Buds talents were many and throughout his life Bud had farmed, delivered mail via horses in rural Bruno, MN, worked at Wilson Foods in Albert Lea, did carpentry work, worked at Conger Creamery, Northside Mobile, Norbys, BobA�A�A½s Sinclair, Fredricksons Fix it Shop, Albert Lea Country Club in maintenance, was a Sanitation Engineer and worked for son Jim at the Pool Hall.
He was a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church.
Bud was a grand storyteller, and especially enjoyed reminiscing about his "bumming" days when he rode the train on top of boxcars all over the northwest United States. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting up-north.
Bud is survived by his son James Rupp of Albert Lea, daughter-in-law Carol Rupp of Rochester, MN; 8 grandchildren: Stacia St. Romain of CA, Jamie Rupp of Albert Lea, Brandila Pross of Las Vegas, NV, Kellyrae (Stu) Rupp-Peterson of Colorado, Trinette (Andy) Dommer of Indiana, Casey Rupp of Ohio, Travis Rupp of Idaho and Nikki (Jeremy) Nelson of California; several great grandchildren; sister Evelyn Anderson of Geneva, MN, sisters-in-law Charlotte Olson of Albert Lea and Maurita Marpe of Charles City, IA, nieces and nephews, and very dear friends Marcia and Darv Habben and family of Albert Lea. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beatrice, son William "Bill", great granddaughter Kassi Marie Haskins, brothers Melvin, Lyle, and Robert Rupp and sister Luella Matthes.
