Harold F. "Tex" Lyman passed away Thursday, 18 May 2017 with his eldest son at his side, at the age of 75 years.
Mr. Lyman was born in Bayard, Nebraska 4 June 1941. He spent his childhood in Bayard, his early teens as a Rancher in Montana and Wyoming. In 1956 he moved to Albert Lea with his parents where he spent his entire adult life. He entered the Navy in January of 1959 and after serving his country with honors was discharged in January 1965. His professional career which spanned over 55 years was spent building and maintaining ice arenas all over the world.
His pursuits were many, but of note were; hunting, fishing, gun smith, amateur radio, and collecting and restoring antiques.
He is preceded in death by his wives; Wanda G. Lyman nee Woodruff and Gloria J. Peterson nee Seltun his first wife and mother of his four children; brother, Bobby E. Lyman; sister; Loretta J. Anderson; parents; Herbert P. Lyman and Elsie M. Lyman nee Hazen.
He is survived by his sister; Wilma M. Grimes; sons, Steven L. Lyman (Kattie), Scott M. Lyman and Stewart L. Lyman; daughter, Sherri L. Johannsen; stepdaughter, Gretchen A. Petterson (John) and family; grandsons, Brandon W. Johannsen (Jessica), Joshua S. Lyman (Delma) and Reilley S.C. Lyman, Jonah R.O. Lyman; granddaughter, Breanna L. Rhiner; great-grandchildren, which to date are seven; nephews, John E. Lyman, Basil D. Carey & Brian W. Carey; as well as his very dear cousins Anelda Mae and Larry Sinks.
As Mr. Lyman was a veteran and served his country with pride and dignity, he is buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Committal services were held Wednesday, 24 May 2017.
Tex will be fondly remembered by his family and close friends. As well as for his love of the outdoors, which oddly enough did not include ice skating!
