Remembering the life of Harold R. Loken....
The Funeral Service for Harold R. Loken of Albert Lea,will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 26, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church. The Reverend John M. Henriksen will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.
Harold was born on October 26, 1915, in Emmons, MN, the son of John and Lillian (Munson) Loken. He attended Albert Lea Schools and was confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Ruth Thorheim at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea in May of 1946. Harold and Ruth later became charter members of Grace Lutheran Church. Harold retired in 1980 after working more than 30 years at Rilco/Weyerhauser as plant maintenance supervisor.
Although his family was always a priority, following his retirement, Harold appreciated the opportunity to spend more time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
An avid outdoorsman, throughout his life Harold enjoyed
hunting, fishing, and spending time at the "cabin" up north.
Harold golfed and bowled in his earlier years and
woodworking was a talent and hobby he continued through retirement.
Harold died at his home on Wednesday, September 21, 2005. He was 89.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, three children: Don Loken and Barb of Prescott, WI, Deb and her husband Larry McDaniel of Albert Lea and Becky and her husband Craig Loehr of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Jaymi McDaniel of Marshall, MN, Brooke McDaniel of St. Paul, MN, Jordan Loehr of Albert Lea, Jillian Loehr of Albert Lea, grandson-in-law Mike Diemer of Albert Lea; twin sister Viola Mickelson of Albert Lea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter Lindsey Diemer and brother Clarence Loken.
