Harold Frerichs

The Memorial Service for Harold R. Frerichs, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. Pastor Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Military Honors will be accorded. Friends may visit with family from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church. Harold completed his journey home surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday, August 1,2009. He was 78. He was born August 9, 1930, in Buffalo Center, Iowa the son of Onno and Elmina A. (Davis) Frerichs. Following graduation from Buffalo Center High School, Harold served our country in the U.S. Navy from November of 1948 until his honorable discharge in December of 1949. While in the service he received training to be a machinist. Harold was united in marriage to Margaret V.(Lee)Hove on May 21, 1970 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua,Iowa. Harold worked as a tool and die maker at Queens for 10 years and then Streater for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Elks, the Eagles, and the State Line Polka Club. He enjoyed camping, traveling in the RV, hunting, fishing, dancing and playing cards and games with family and friends. Harold will be greatly missed by his family, wife Margaret, children: Lyle (Lori) Frerichs of Lino Lakes, MN, Lana (Tracy)Hanna of Woden, IA, Lance (Kathy) Frerichs of Cambridge, MN, Lon(Carrie) Frerichs of Hesperia, CA, Lisa(Ray) Schardijn of Hesperia, CA; stepchildren Vicky (Dan) Robson of Emmons, Sheryl Morgan of St. Paul and James (Patty) Hove of Albert Lea; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother-in-law Duane (Marie) Lee of Northwood, IA, sister-in-law Betty Frerichs of Dallas, TX and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Onno and Elmina Frerichs, brothers Ed Frerichs , Fredrick N. Frerichs in infancy and daughter-in-law Terry. Harold will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Blessed be his memory.
