Funeral services for Gloria M. Walk of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 13, 2015 at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN. Pastor Al Stoa will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4 until 7 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Kiester, MN.
Gloria Mae Walk was born on a farm west of Emmons, MN. on June 15, 1936 the daughter of LeRoy and Ida (Skjervheim) Schroader. She moved to Kiester, MN, when she was five and graduated from Kiester High School in 1954. She moved to Albert Lea, MN and worked in the office at Wilson & Co. She later worked for a printing company as well as Human Services of Freeborn County. She married Gary Walk on September 15, 1963 in the Chapel at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She has been a member of First Lutheran Church for over 50 years where she served as a member of the Altar Guild, Worship Offering Committee, Circle 20, and Caring and Sharing. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends, her grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter. Gloria passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gary Walk, of Albert Lea; two sons, Michael Walk of Kiester, and Steven (Deanne) Walk also of Kiester; three grandsons, Adam Walk (Lizzy Weller) of Albert Lea, Brian (Sarah) Walk of Blackstone, MA, and Andrew Walk of Colorado Springs, CO; step-granddaughter Taylor Chose, and step-grandson Ryan Stoneman, both of Kiester; and great-granddaughter Rylea Walk of Albert Lea; two sisters, Carmen Meyer and Marilyn (Toots) Moe, both of Albert Lea; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ida Schroader; three brothers, Marlin (Moon) Schroader, VirGene (Lop) Schroader, and Marvin (Bunny) Schroader; sister, Lila Hessel; two nephews, Robert (Holmstrom) Hustad, and Lonnie Hessel; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Schroader, brothers-in-law Larry Hessel and Vernel Meyer.
