Glen Anderson

Funeral services for Glen Raymond Anderson of New Richland MN, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the LeSueur River Lutheran Church in New Richland. Pastor Cary Larson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 PM Friday at the Friedrich Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the LeSueur River Lutheran Cemetery . Military honors will be accorded by the New Richland Veterans Groups.

Mr Anderson died Tuesday morning at his home in New Richland. He was 86 years of age.

Glen was born June 24, 1922 in Steele County the son of Harry and Calmie (Hanson) Anderson. He attended country school in Berlin Township . On January 21, 1944 he was united in marriage to Luella Johnson in Geneva , MN . Glen served in the US Army during WW2 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He has been a resident of New Richland all his life.

Glen was a member of LeSueur River Lutheran Church , serving on church council, ushering, and teaching Sunday School.

Glen farmed with his father for 10 years, then worked for Shurson’s Trucking. He then worked for 25 years at E.F. Johnson in Waseca before retiring in 1985.

Glen was a member of the New Richland Legion, V.F.W., Eagle’s Club and the Garden Club for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing. He had great enjoyment in traveling south during the winters in their motor home.

Glen is survived by his wife, Luella of 64 years; children: Virginia (Dennis) Roesler of New Richland, MN, Valerie (Dale) Phillips of Hartland, MN, Veronica (Gary) Hanson of Waterville, MN, Verlaine (James) Krueger of New Richland, MN; grandchildren: Karla (Grant) Wells, Michael (Becky) Roesler, Eric (Amy) Roesler, JoAnn (Miguel) Cintron, Torunn (Tim) Nelson, Amy (Chris) Beausoleil, Aaron (Jeanette) Phillips, Anne Phillips, Alison (Chris) Sorensen, Todd (Bridgette) Hanson, Krista (Matt) McCoy, Jill (Cory) Zafke, Spencer Hanson, Heather (Joel) Lisowksi, Brent (Amy Jo) Krueger, Sarah (Rob) Theobold; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Schaetzke of Janesville, MN; sisters-in-law, Lucille Anderson of Waseca, MN, Loretta Anderson of McComb, IL, Marion Utpadel of Owatonna, MN, Donna Horecka of Owatonna, MN, Martha Johnson of Owatonna, MN; brothers-in-law: Alton Johnson of Owatonna, MN, Robert (Lenore) Johnson of Shakopee, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lester Anderson, Milan Anderson, Clare Anderson; sisters: Velma Fisher, Harriet Billing.
