Obituary Gladys Alianna Morriem



The Funeral Service for Gladys Alianna Morreim, of St. John's Lutheran Home, Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 9, 2004

at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea.

Chaplain Monrad Mandsager and Reverend Linda Gunderson will officiate. Interment will be in Central Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Gladys died on Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at St. John?s Lutheran Home at the age of 101.

She was born on January 9, 1903, in Hartland Township, Minnesota the 10th of 12 children born to Kittle and Thea Karina (Sibilrud) Johnson.

She attended rural schools and was a New Richland High School graduate.

She also attended Normal training and taught school in the Rotegard District, New Richland, and Nordby District, Manchester. She took a 6 week art course at the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts.

On July 20, 1927, she married Oscar Morreim of Manchester. Three sons Phillip, Roger, and Steven were born to this union.

Oscar was a farmer and they farmed the K.E. Morreim farm until the year of 1945 when

they bought the Soren Moen Farm.

As her three sons got older she took up her paintbrush and pallet., and took a refresher course from Lloyd Herfindahl. She found much pleasure in giving her artwork to family and friends.

She was a member of the Central Freeborn Lutheran Church until they retired. She was an active member of the ALCW, Altar Guild, and Circle.

She also taught Sunday School for several years and had served as Sunday

School Superintendent.

In 1967, they retired and moved to Hartland . She became a member of the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church where she was active in the ALCW, Altar Guild and Circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Senior Citizen Organization. In 1990 they moved to Albert Lea and transferred their membership back to Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. Oscar died in September of 1994, and in February of 1997, Gladys moved to St. John's Lutheran Home.



She is survived by three sons: Phillip Oscar Morreim (Sharon) of Albert Lea, Roger Dale Morreim (Lois) of Albert Lea, Steven Allan Morreim (Janet) of Belvedere, ILL; grandchildren: Mark Morreim (Cheryl) of Albert Lea, Tim Morreim ( Julie) of Lakeville, MN., Debbie Dawkins( Ray) of Gillette, WY, Sandi Reinhart (Mike) of Caladonia, MI., Randy Morreim ( Brenda) of Gilbert, AZ., Bradley Morreim (Renee) of Champlain, MN., Lori Martin (Tony) of Albert Lea, Stephanie, Nicole, Tiffeny, and Eric Allan Morreim all of Belvedere, ILL., 19 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Evelyn Morreim of Albert Lea, Noretta Bauman of Minneapolis, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oscar in 1994, grandson Gerald Allan Morreim, great grandson Cameron Reinhart and 11 brothers and sisters.
