George Stieglbauer

August 26, 1943 — May 29, 2024

George Ralph Stieglbauer of Geneva, MN passed away May 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at St Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

George Ralph Stieglbauer Jr. was born on August 26, 1943, in Albert Lea, MN, to George and Etta (Nelson) Stieglbauer. Growing up in Geneva, George was known for his rambunctious nature that settled when he met, Susan Wayne, a young bartender in town, who he often surprised with a king-size Snickers, her favorite treat. They were united in marriage on July 28, 1984, at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva, MN, and together, raised their two sons in their beloved hometown. George relished in being a father and held all the moments spent with his sons close to his heart and loved them beyond measure.

Throughout his life, George wore many hats, from working at Northern Valley in Hollandale, doing masonry work, driving truck, and construction - to eventually owning George's of Geneva with his wife.  His last harrah before retirement he co-owned MoeGoe's food truck with Moey McCornack. George had a flair for cooking, with his chicken noodle soup being a family favorite, but it was his granddaughter, Chesney, who believed he made the BEST lemonade.

As a family man, George cherished annual fishing trips to northern Minnesota, where the time spent together was more precious than the fish caught. Trips to "Ye Old Shack" on Lake Mille Lacs and Big Rock Resort on Leech Lake were treasured moments. An avid hunter, George enjoyed four unforgettable trips to Africa, relishing in the thrill of the hunt with friends.

George's infectious laugh, captivating stories, and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. As a loyal Vikings fan, he passionately supported his team, and with his enthusiasm he transformed the garage into a gathering spot for friends and neighbors during game days. George was known for his mixology skills and stiff drinks with some of his customer asking for his special concoctions and others requesting an extra side of soda.

George was known for his kind and caring nature, always ready to offer help and support to those around him. George will always be remembered as the favorite uncle, the uncle who was always supportive and fun! Yet, George's true pride lay in his role as a grandfather, a position he cherished above all else.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Susan; sons, Geoffrey George(Meghan) and Justin (Brittany); grandchildren, Chesney and Tatum George; grandpup, Cece; sisters, Jeanette (Terry) Ringeon and Julia Farr; brothers, Louis Stieglbauer and LaVern (Linda) Stieglbauer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeff (Kathy) Wayne, Rodney (Dana) Wayne, and Manuel Cortinas; along with many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Oscar Hjelmen; sisters, Delores and Donna in infancy, Margaret Cortinas, Shirley (Jesse) Diaz, and Loretta (Allan) Anderson; brother-in-law, Kenneth Farr; sisters-in-law, Barbara Stieglbauer, Jeanette Pospesel, and Claudia Wayne; and parents-in-law, Roger and Joyce Wayne.
