Genevieve Adams

December 26, 1926 — March 1, 2025

Genevieve S. Adams, a beloved elementary school teacher, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at St. John's - Woodland's in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Born December 26, 1926 to Paul and Esther Strehlo, she was raised in Morristown, MN. After graduating high school, Genevieve received her Master's in Education from Mankato State and went on to teach elementary education in Minnesota and Illinois. Her journey through life took Genevieve from Fairmont, MN to Downers Grove, IL, and she eventually settled in Albert Lea after her well-earned retirement. Throughout her life, she remained connected to her roots, exuding kindness and generosity, which left an everlasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

An experienced quilter, Genevieve filled her life with creativity and joy; crafting quilts with care, often sharing stories of warmth and love. An avid reader, Genevieve enjoyed quiet time with a good book whenever she wasn't creating beautiful quilts or spending time with her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lloyd Adams; daughter Evelyn Adams; and parents Paul and Esther Strehlo.

Genevieve's legacy lives on through her daughter Brenda Ferrier and her husband, Richard; grandchildren Amanda Ferrier Aurbach, Nicholas Ferrier, Jeremy Heath Adams, Katika Schmidt, and Jonathan Adams; great-grandchildren Cora and Cayden Ferrier; and her siblings Phyllis Hamborg and Jule Moldenhauer.

As we remember Genevieve, let us celebrate the profound impact she made as an educator, a craftsman, and a nurturing family member. While there will be no formal memorial service, it is suggested that we take a moment to reflect on the kindness and generosity Genevieve shared during her time with us.

Memorial may be sent to the family at 811 Rabbit Rd, Sanibel, FL 33957, or made in her honor to the Zion Lutheran Church, 924 Bridge Ave, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
