Gelma Fossum

Funeral services for Gelma E. Fossum of Albert Lea , MN , will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland , MN . Pastor Dennis Frank will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery .

Gelma died Thursday morning at St John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea , MN . She was 104 years of age.

Gelma was born January 4, 1905 in Freeborn County , the daughter of Ole Jr. and Ingeborg (Myre) Tukua. She attended school district #21 near Manchester and graduated from Business College . She was united in marriage to Arnold Fossum on October 12, 1939 at the Hartland Lutheran Church by Reverend Jacob Wulfsburg.

Gelma was a member of the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church and was active in the church circle. She had been employed by the American Gas Co as a bookkeeper for 18 years and part time as a bookkeeper for Standard Lumber Co in Hartland where her husband was the manager.

Gelma enjoyed knitting and making afghans, crossword puzzles and reading.

She is survived by nieces and nephews; Keith and Mary Ingbritsen, Alice and Stanley Jensen, Ellwood and Janice Tukua, Raymond and Shirley Tukua. There are also many great nieces and nephews.

Gelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arnold, sister Otelia (Arnold) Ingbritsen, brother Oscar (Norma) Tukua and great niece Carol Jensen.
