Frank D Galvan, 79 formerly of Albert Lea, Mn. Peacefully passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at Golden Living Center, Rochester, MN.
Frank was born March 18, 1936 to Alberto & Paula Galvan in Poteet, Texas. Frank traveled the Upper Midwest with his family as a migrant worker. In his travels he met the love of his life Rosie Sotelo. After a brief courtship they were married on October 6, 1956. Together they had four children; Leroy, Linda, Frank and Lynn. Frank and Rosie raised their family in Albert Lea, MN. Frank also worked for Wilson Foods as a meat cutter for many years, where he later retired. Rosie passed away July 29, 1985.
Frank enjoyed expressing his humor playfully at the expense of those he loved the most. He enjoyed shooting pool at the Eagles club, bowling, camping, hunting, fishing, boating, coaching youth YMCA baseball as well as playing softball. He was a member of the Albert Lea gun club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles FOE 2258 in Albert Lea. He spent a great deal of time watching his grandchildren play sports. Frank also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He also had a fondness for dogs.
Frank is survived by: 5 remaining siblings, Elvira G Prez, Tomas Galvan , Beatrice Luebano , Guadalupe Valdez; 4 children, Leroy & Betty Galvan of Coppell, Texas, Linda and Mike Richardson of Cresco, Iowa, Frank and Ann Galvan of Rochester, Mn, Lynn Galvan and friend Greg Westergaard of Rochester, Mn; 7 grandchildren, Karen Mensink, Kelli Meyer, Katy Wiersma, Ryan Galvan, Alexander Galvan, Andrew Galvan and Samantha Galvan; 4 great-grandchildren, Rylee, Remi, Beau and Bently and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Paula, as well as his youngest brother, Adolph.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 2:30pm Saturday, June 27, 2015 at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea, Mn with burial following at St. Theodore's Cemetery in Albert Lea. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 26 from 4-7pm at Bonnerup Funeral Service (2210 East Main St.) in Albert Lea and again one hour prior to the service at church.
