Faye A. Nelson, 80 of Hayward, died Thursday Feb. 17th at home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Hayward Lutheran Church in Hayward. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Home in Albert Lea. Pastor Katie Fick will officiate and burial will take place at Hayward cemetery. Faye was born April 7th, 1930 to Theodore and Floy (Shussel) Bothum near Gainsbourgh, Saskatchewan Canada. November of 1940, after farming in Canada for 20 years, the family moved back to the states. Years later, Faye would tell stories regarding their arrival shortly after the Armistice Day Storm.
Faye was united in marriage to Henry (H.C.) Nelson July 10, 1948, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She attended Albert Lea area schools, and was a member of Hayward Lutheran Church. Faye farmed with her husband until their retirement in 1983.
Faye is survived by her children and grandchildren: Linda (Galen) Christensen, their children Shane & Andy; Cindy Lunning- Armon (Bob), children Tad , Trent & Tricia: Debbie (Paul) Weite and their children Tera, Ed, Jeff & Holly; Hal Nelson and son Will; Scott Nelson and daughters Lindsey and Hannah, and 22 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her sisters: Betty Granholt, Lila (Kendall) Johnson and sisters-in-law: Gilma Bothum, Catherine Lorentzen, Faith Kirsch and Dora (Paul) Levine, and brother-in-law Thomas Nelson (Pat) and many nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband H.C., infant daughter Patricia, her parents, and brother, Lester.
Faye will be remembered for her quick wit, humor and love for family and friends. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, gardening and cooking. She never lacked for company, as family, grandkids, and even the grandkidA�A�A½s friends enjoyed coming out to visit with Faye. As we look back she will forever leave us with a smile on our faces, and many wonderful memories
