Elwood Jensen

A memorial service for Elwood "Red" Jensen will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Reverend Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Central Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Veteran's Organizations.
Elwood passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center. He was 88 years old.
Elwood Dean Jensen was born on May 18, 1928 to Merrills and Lillian (Paulsen) Jensen in Albert Lea, MN. Elwood "Red" Jensen enlisted in the United States Navy, and served his country honorably until his discharge in 1946. On February 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mildred G. Moen at Central Lutheran Church. To this union, the couple was blessed with two children.
Red was a lifetime resident of Freeborn County. He worked for several trucking firms, and was the owner/operator of Tow 'N Travel for 25 years in Albert Lea. His work was his hobby, and he enjoyed what he did. He made a lot of friends, and got to help a lot of great people through his work. Red belonged to the State and National Towing Associations, where he served as the State President for two years. Aside from work, Red was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Red also was just awarded his 50 year honor for being a member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Merrills and Lillian; and a brothers in-law, Duane Morreim, Cleon Moen, and Ronald Moen.
He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Mildred of Albert Lea; children, Eugene (Barbara) Jensen of Albert Lea and Marjorie (Don) DeWinter of Peculiar, MO; grandchildren, Timothy (Jessica) Jensen, Michael (Kara) Kestner, Amy (Andy) Hageman; great-grandchildren, Carter, Jack, and Elise Jensen, Ryan, Joseph, and Alex Hageman; brothers, Adrian Jensen, Allan (Darline) Jensen and Dennis (Mary) Jensen; sisters, Joyce (Burton) Halvorson and Janice Morreim; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
