Memorial Services for Elmer D. DePoppe, of Glenville, MN, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Pastor Kristi Kleinbeck will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville. Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the funeral home Elmer died surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society, Albert Lea. He was 64. He was born on October 17, 1947, in Albert Lea, Minnesota the son of Harold and Rosella (Schmidt) DePoppe. Elmer graduated from Alden High School. He worked at Universal Tire Warehouse for more than 30 years. He had a hobby farm, where he raised rabbits and chickens, sold Omega 3 eggs, and had many other animals. He also dabbled in construction throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, a good joke and family gatherings. His grandchildren affectionately called him "Grandpa Dude" He is survived by his children: John DePoppe(Renee Bartsch) of Albert Lea, Lacinda Heimdal of Albert Lea, Jamie Troe (Barry Sr) of Lake Mills, IA, Jeremy(Charla)DePoppe of Albert Lea, stepson Travis Shaunce of Glenville; grandchildren: Brittney and Michael Holland, Holly (Alex) Rops, Barry Jr., Marissa and Andrew Troe, River and Grace DePoppe; brother Daryl DePoppe (Deb) of Henriette, MN, sisters: JoAnn Schroeder of Albert Lea and Dawn (Robert) Haas of Oakdale, MN, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, his wife Crystal, brother Robert, mother-in-law Margaret Larson, brother-in-law Harlan Christensen, sisters-in-law Sharon Nelson and Tammy Ottesen.
