Elaine Shannon

March 27, 1929 — August 28, 2013

Funeral Service for Elaine Therese Shannon will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Father TimothyT. Reker, Father Jerome Verdick and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.

Elaine died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Mayo Health Systems in Albert Lea. She was 84 years old.

Elaine was born in Alpha, Minnesota on March 27, 1929 the daughter of Peter and Roselle (Skalicky) Verdick. She graduated from Jackson High School and attended St. Theresa College in Winona and Mankato State College. She was united in marriage to Edward Shannon on April 7, 1951 in Jackson, MN.
After she was married they lived in Sparta, WI, Mankato, MN, Jordan, MN, Madelia, MN and moved to Albert Lea in 1958. Elaine was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. Elaine had worked at Clothing Care and Thornecrest Retirement Center. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward ; children: Lorie Davis of Zumbrota, MN, Linda (Chuck) Trost of Glenville, MN, Pete (Deanna Cook) Shannon of New Richmond, WI, Carol Shannon of Vadnais Heights, MN; grandchildren: Aaron Davis, Kelli Trost, Krista Trost, Kari (Josh) Luehmann, Megan Cook-Shannon, Alex Cook-Shannon and 2 great grandchildren: Blake and Tate Luehmann; brothers: Leo (Barbara) Verdick of Los Angeles, CA and Father Jerome Verdick of Alpha, MN; sister: Mary Kelly of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jerry Kelly.
