Elaine passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community. She was 85 years old.
Elaine T. (Legried) was born on May 6, 1930 in Albert Lea to Harry and Stella (Tukua) Legried. She graduated from Freeborn High School in 1947. She went on to attend a 6 month Business Program in Minneapolis. Elaine married Lenard Giles, and to this union, she was blessed with two children. The couple later divorced. On November 7, 1959, she was united in marriage to Milo Peterson. Elaine was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church, and frequently volunteered her time there. She helped the church count money, she was on the serving circles, and she was once the president of the First Lutheran Church Women, as well as many other church activities.
Elaine worked in payroll and pension for Queens Stoves, which evolved into ALMCO. She worked there for nearly 35 years. She truly did love to work. In her free time, you could find Elaine volunteering in many different ways. She was the President of the Shriners Auxiliary for many years; she volunteered her time at the hospital, Blood Mobile, and Salvation Army. She was even named the "Volunteer of the Year" for the Sertoma Club. She enjoyed cooking, and was a very talented seamstress; even sewing clothing for people while she was living at the Thorne Crest Apartments. She can be described as a caring, independent woman with a very strong work ethic. She loved conversations with people, and she loved her family. She especially cherished her three great-grandsons. They meant the world to her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Stella; husband Milo in 2013; and a brother-in-law, Calvin Lyle.
Those left to carry on her legacy include her children, Lynnette Trunnell of St. Paul Park, and Randy (Val) Giles of Graceville, MN; grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Carlson of Big Lake, MN, Ryan (Amy) Giles of Madison, MN, Amy Trunnell and Kevin Trunnell, both of St. Paul Park; great-grandsons, Erick Carlson, age 10, Ethan Carlson, age 7, and McKegn Giles, age 5; sister, Helen (Harold) Thompson of New Richland; a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Lyle; a brother-in-law, Dale (Marlene) Peterson; as well as many other loving nieces and nephews.
Blessed be her memory!
