Eileen Joyce Lammey passed away on Wednesday, May 01, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society. She was 84 years old.
Eileen Joyce (Petersma) Lammey was born on April 10, 1935 in Pella, IA to Henry and Eve (Van Ekeren) Petersma. Joyce grew up in Pella and graduated from Pella High School. On September 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to Doyle Lammey. The couple was blessed with three children. Joyce and her family lived in various places throughout the country, before Doyle’s work brought the family to Albert Lea in 1972.
Joyce was very family oriented. She worked at Maytag in Newton Iowa until she started a family and then it family first. She always kept a tidy home (everything had its place), was an excellent cook, and her attention was always on her family. Hard thing is we always asked for recipes for her dishes and she always said “I just throw it together until it was right.” Joyce enjoyed bowling, gardening and being a part of the Lioness Club.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Doyle Lammey of Albert Lea; children, Mark Lammey of Albert Lea and Steve Lammey of Apple Valley, MN; grandson, Kelvin Bahr of Fairmont, MN; siblings, Betty (Marvin) Vanderwerff of Pella, IA and Melvin (Janice) Petersma of Pella, IA; brother and sister in-law, Richard (Wanda) Lammey of Newton, IA and Sharon Petersma of Newton, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Joyce is preceded in death by her son Michael, both parents, Henry and Eva Petersma; brother, Delmar Petersma; and brother in-law, Paul Lammey.
