Memorial services for Edythe Mae Brandenburg of Mankato, MN, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. Pastor Scott Williams will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Peter's Cemetery, New Richland, MN after which there will be a gathering at the church for lunch and sharing of memories.
Edythe died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Pathstone Crossing Home in Mankato, MN. She was 95 years of age.
Edythe was born September 12, 1916 in Beauford, MN, the daughter of Edgar and Edith (Rogers) McMahan. She attended public school in Oregon and Minnesota and on May 19, 1937 was united in marriage to Alfred Brandenburg at the Freedom Church in Rural Waldorf, MN.
Edythe lived most of her life in the Waldorf, New Richland area and was an active member of St Peter's Church. She performed the typical duties of a farm wife and also found time to knit and crochet, restore old dolls, design and make doll clothing, raise and groom dogs and give birth to four children, three of them over a thirteen month period.. Edythe had a great talent for music and a vast knowledge of family history.
Edythe is survived by her children; Bob (Judy) Brandenburg of Lakeville, MN, Ken (Pam) Brandenburg of Marshalltown, IA, Karol (John) Ellingson of Irvine, CA, Bev (Rod) Kock of Eagle Lake, MN. There are seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also surviving.
Edythe was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred and nine older siblings. She had 32 nieces and nephews and was always known to them as Auntie Mae.
Memorials are preferred to St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
