Funeral services for Edward Emil Staloch will be held at 10:30 on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. Father Timothy Reker and Deacon Michael Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea, and again one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at St. Theodore Cemetery. Edward passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at his home. He was 98 years old.
Edward was born on December 23, 1915 to Joseph and Minnie (Schultz) in Blue Earth County, MN. He attended school in the Wells area. After his schooling, he helped his family on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country for four years, until his honorable discharge.
Edward was united in marriage to Marjorie Louise Murphy on June 8, 1948 in Minnesota Lake. To this union, 12 children were born. The couple moved to the Albert Lea area soon after marriage. Edward was a carpenter by trade, building many houses in the community. He was an active member at St. Theodore Catholic Church, where he volunteered by serving children's lunches, was a part of the prayer chain, served as an usher for the church, and was on the finance committee for a period of time. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, and played on a bowling and pool league. In his free time, Edward liked to fish, travel with his wife, watch the Minnesota Twins, and enjoyed going to his grandchildren's events.
Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; parents; children, James (Judy), Mark (Leah), John, and Ann; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Vanessa; and siblings, Dorothy and Roman.
He is survived by his children, Barb (Rande) Haukoos, of Forest City, IA, Joanne (Ross) Knutson, of Albert Lea, Mary (Butch) Nelson, of Rochester, Robert (Sue) Staloch, of Albert Lea, Kathleen (Ron) Tustin, of Spring, TX, Michael (Susie) Staloch, of Midland, MI, David (Janet) Staloch, of Rochester, and Theresa Jensen, of Rochester; grandchildren, David, Debbie, Scott, Cinda, Sydney, Emily, Kirsten, Erin, Jeremy, Matthew, Megan, Aric, Jacob, Renae, Joseph, Wendy, Anne, Daniel, Kassi, Christine, Brian, Ray, Amy, Jill, and Jennifer; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Catherine Zimney, Betty Chicos, Louie Staloch, and Marie Zimney.
