The funeral service for Edna Mae Ganiere, of New Richland, was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday August 2, 2004 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Richland. The Rev. Philip A. Lewison officiated. Interment was in St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, and one hour before the service at the church.
Edna died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 82 years old.
Edna was born February 1, 1922, on the Crain Farm in Waseca County to Kenneth and Emma (Michaelis) Heckes. She attended country school and has been a lifetime resident of the New Richland area. Edna married Albert Ganiere on October 24, 1941, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member and active in the church women.
Edna was an active volunteer at the New Richland Care Center. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, doing needle point and other crafts. Edna was well known for her embroidery machine - quilts, bags and miscellaneous.
Edna is survived by her four children: Donna Beck and her husband Keith of Waseca, Lois Gekeler and her husband Marlyn of Janesville, Larry Ganiere of Iowa, and Brenda Routh and her husband Mark of New Richland; 10 granchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Groff of Albert Lea; brother, Lester Heckes of Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Roger Ganiere of Kalispell, Mont: and mnay nieces and nephews.
