Memorial services for Douglas James Andersen of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Pastor Curtis Zieske will officiate. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
Douglas died Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was 64 years of age.
Doug was born July 8, 1946 in Grosse Point Farms, MI, the son of E. Douglas and Patricia (Pidgin) Andersen. He attended public school in Fordville, ND. On August 25, 1967 he was united in marriage to Linda Hippe in Rib Lake, WI. In 1968 they moved to Albert Lea, MN, where Doug was employed by the Wilson Co. After the plant closing he was employed by the Streator Co. and most recently by the Cummins Filtration Co. in Lake Mills, IA.
Doug loved to go hunting and fishing and spend time in his boat.
He is survived by his wife Linda Andersen of Albert Lea, MN, daughter Karri Andersen of Albert Lea, MN, and grandchildren, Daniel and Kathryn (Kathy) Ponik also of Albert Lea, MN. There are three brothers surviving, Greg (Rose Mary) Andersen of Albert Lea, MN, Kim (Mary) Andersen of White Bear Lake, MN, Scott (Karen) Andersen of Twin Lakes, MN, several nieces and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
