Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Frances Johnson of Princeton, MN, formerly of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN. Pastor Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4 until 8 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the North Round Prairie Cemetery, rural Albert Lea, MN.
Dorothy died on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Princeton Elim Home in Princeton, MN. She was 89 years of age.
Dorothy was born May 18, 1923 in Freeborn County, MN, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Aanrud) Amundson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1943. On June 20, 1943 she was united in marriage to Arthur Johnson at the Round Prairie Lutheran Church.
Dorothy was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church serving as Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible school teacher, church circle and bible study groups. She was a member of the Eagles Club and had been an Avon Representative for many years. Together with her husband Arthur they farmed the family farm for many years. She was a Freeborn County resident all of her life before spending the last 10 years in Princeton, MN.
In her free time Dorothy enjoyed crafts, was an excellent seamstress, loved to knit, crochet, hand needlework and even spent time Rosemalling. She also loved to read.
Dorothy is survived by her children; Dennis and his wife Mary Johnson of Maple Grove, MN, Pamela and her husband Robert Pringle of Princeton, MN, Valerie and her husband Murry Resler of Cottage Grove, MN, Lowell and his wife Beverly Johnson of Oakdale, MN. Surviving grandchildren include; Chad (Roxy) Pringle, Stuart (Rachel) Pringle, Bethany (Bill) Zacher, Laura (Jason) Libby, Joel Resler, Clarissa (Seth) Adams, Megan Resler, Stephanie Johnson, Grant Johnson and Rachel Johnson. There are 8 great grandchildren, sisters in law Pearl Amundson of Albert Lea, MN, Alitha Amundson of Glenville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur, sisters Carmen Quam, Lillian Larson, Evelyn Johnson and Mercedes Johnson. Brothers Wallace, Earl, Russell and James Amundson.
