Memorial services for Dorothy Helen Gonzalez of Robbinsdale, MN, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea, MN. Father Russell Scepaniak will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4 until 7 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Theodore Catholic Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Dorothy died Sunday, April 2, 2017 at St. Therese Home in New Hope, MN. She was 87 years of age.
Dorothy was born January 13, 1930 in Janesville, MN, the daughter of Earl and Lilly (Born) Bolinger. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1948. On April 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to John F. Gonzalez at St Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. Dorothy lived her early years in Albert Lea and the last 50 plus years in Minneapolis, MN. She was an active member of St Olaf Catholic Church in Minneapolis. In her free time she loved spending time with her family at the trailer in Hope, MN. She provided day care for many years and her grandchildren were the sparkle of her eye.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, John of Minneapolis, MN; sons, Greg (Deb) Gonzalez of Apple Valley, MN, Michael (Vickie) Gonzalez of Arden Hills, MN; grandchildren Mitchell (Soha), Anna, Miranda, Gabrielle and great granddaughter Kyra. Also surviving are brother Harold (Doris) Bolinger of Albert Lea, MN; sisters Nancy (Jim) Bottelson of Albert Lea, MN; Cindy (Jerry) Fenton of Las Vegas, NV, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Lilly Bolinger, sisters Fern Hausman, Frances Rupp, Vivian Sorenson and one brother Bud Bolinger.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN.
