Funeral services for Dorothy Barbara Beck will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake. The Reverend Wendy Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea as well as one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Dorothy Beck passed away peacefully Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Mayo Health Systems Albert Lea with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born on July 18, 1918, to John and Anna (Wacholz) Vogel. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the former St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kiester. She attended school district #85 in rural Kiester.
She was united in marriage to Edwin Beck on May 24, 1940. They lived on a farm just east of Conger. After retiring they moved to Conger, Minnesota, in 1979.
She was a homemaker and found enjoyment working with her flowers, playing cards, embroidering and baking. Her greatest love was her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who gave her much love and joy. She was a member of Pickerel Lake Lutheran Church and active in WELCA, Miriam Circle and Conger Senior Citizens.
She is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Judy) Beck and Larry (Patricia) Beck; sister Laverna Charlson of Lake Mills, Iowa; grandchildren Kevin (Kristin) Beck, Julie (Tim) Slavin, Shelly (Rodd) Benfield, Janelle (Ryan) Merkouris and Jennifer (Brandon) Farris; great-grandchildren Jordan and Shelby Beck, Kylie and Krista Slavin, Caleb and Ellen Merkouris and Kaiden and Noah Farris; step grandchildren Mitch (Pam) Jacobs, Michael (Dawn) Jacobs, and Melissa (Edward) Wencl; step great-grandchildren Calin and Sydney Jacobs, Cameron, Taylor, Collin and Patrick Jacobs and Neela and Olivia Wencl; sisters-in-law Isabelle Lee and Margaret Becker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin Beck; brothers Arthur Becker and William Becker, sister Arvilla Paulson, brothers-in-law Carl Beck, Arnold Sorenson, Carl Johnson and Donald Paulson, sisters-in-law Irene Johnson, Marie Helland, Frieda Sorenson and Ruby Becker.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
