Dora Hallum

Dora May (Wysong) Hallum, age 100, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society, Albert Lea, MN. Dora was born August 25, 1915 near Manchester, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in West Freeborn Lutheran Church. Dora and Herman Hallum were united in marriage in the chapel in Hartland, MN. They farmed south of Manchester for 13 years before moving to an acreage south of Oakland. They then purchased a home in Austin, MN where they lived for more than 50 years. Dora and Herman were a team. They built custom cabinets for kitchens, bathrooms, etc. as well as other carpentry work in the Austin area. Vacations often found them searching for agates on northern Minnesota shores. They cut and polished the stones, creating small pieces of jewelry with them. Dora is survived by 2 children: Dale Hallum (Mary) of Clarks Grove, MN and Helen Hagen (David) of Charles City, IA; three grandchildren: Cathy Hagen Draz (John) of Knightdale, NC, Carol Hagen Powers (Jay) of Georgetown, TX, and Suzanne Hallum Mauer (Max) of Albert Lea, MN; great grandchildren: Shaun Gerloff (Kimberly) of Charlotte, NC; Courtney Draz Beck (Jamie) of Raleigh, NC; Cody Draz of Knightdale, NC, and Avery Mauer of Albert Lea, MN; great-great grandchildren: Adalynn and Parker Gerloff of Charlotte, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; parents Walter and Emma Wysong; three sisters: Neva Lerum, Hulda Jochumson, Ethel Wysong, and brother Howard Wysong; infant grandson Jacky Hagen.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Oakland Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour before the service.
