Funeral services for Donna Mae Olsen will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. Chaplain Elizabeth Endicott will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Sunday, January 11 at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, and again one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Donna passed away at home in Austin on Thursday, January 8, 2015. She was 76 years old.
Donna was born on September 4, 1938 to Arthur and Agnes (Larson) Anderson in Blue Earth, MN. She went to school in Blue Earth, Easton, and graduated high school from Albert Lea in 1956. Donna was united in marriage to Alton Olsen on October 18, 1958. The couple was blessed with five children. Donna raised her family on a farm in rural Austin. She worked at home until 1985, when she went to school to become a beautician. After her schooling, Donna began working at Ramseth Beauty Salon in Austin. She worked there for 22 years until she retired. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and making blankets for her grandchildren, and feeding the birds. She always had the television glued to the QVC network, always searching for the best deals! Family time was very important to her, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Alton; parents; and a sister, Arlene (Bud) Kroenke.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Julie Follmuth, of New Richland, David (Michele) Olsen, of Austin, Sarah (Wayne) Barber, of New Richland, Carol (Jeff) Quast, of Waseca; and Brian (Jodi) Olsen, of Waltham; grandchildren, James Follmuth, Amanda Follmuth, Scott (Cassandra) Olsen, Adam (Liah Schmidt) Olsen, Nathan (Liz) Schmidt, Nick Schmidt, Diana Kassel, Jason (Amanda Ryan) Barber, Melissa (Rafael Sostre) Barber, Kyle Quast, Hannah Quast, Riley, Ethan, Tyler, and Tessa Olsen; great-grandchildren, Roman, Mason, Peyton, Jacey, Alexys, Skylar, Tehryn, Alexis, Keira and Aveda; siblings, Jane (Bob) Hillman, of Austin, and LaVerne (Karen) Anderson, of Rochester.
