The memorial service for Donald Henry LaPlante of Austin, Minnesota will be 1:00p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007 at First Lutheran Church, Glenville, Minnesota. The Reverend Gail Klavetter will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation with his family will be one hour before the service.
Military Honors will be accorded.
Donald died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at St. Marks Lutheran Home, Austin, Minnesota. He was 73 years old.
Donald was born February 22, 1934 in Manchester, New Hampshire to Henry and Robea (Benoit) LaPlante. He attended Western Grade School and Central High School in New Hampshire. He entered the military service at the age of 17 and served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Donald resided in New York, Ohio, Glenville, Minnesota for 15 years, Wells, Minnesota and presently Austin. He worked as a Semi Driver for L J Kennedy, Young Truck Lines, D & T Trucking Company and has received many safety awards for his driving, while traveling throughout the whole United States. Donald was a member of First Lutheran Church, Glenville. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Club. Donald was a legend with the Guitar. He enjoyed singing. Donald was a true musician. He could play most instruments. Donald also enjoyed his Ham Radio and talking on the CB and gardening.
Donald is survived by his five Children: Cheryl Ann Cressman of Philadelphia PA, Donald LaPlante of Philadelphia, PA, Jimmy LaPlante of Kentucky, Theresa LaPlante of Glenville, Minnesota and Melissa LaPlante of Glenville, and stepson: Judd Goskeson of Albert Lea, Minnesota and his former wife Susan Bowman of Glenville, Minnesota; sister: Janet LaPlante of Montana and brother: Jean-Paul LaPlante of Alabama; several nieces, nephews and a host of Friends.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; baby brother: Bobbie; sister Lorraine Herbert.
