Dellan Hagen

March 30, 1937 — March 5, 2025

Dellan 'Julio' Hagen - a man larger than life, with a heart as big as his laugh - passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 30, 1937, in Twin Lakes, MN, to Bert and Anna (Shepard) Hagen, Dellan made sure the world knew he had arrived - and he never let it forget.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services with visitation one hour prior.

Dellan met the love of his life, Annette, and it didn't take long for him to know she was the one. They married when he was 21 and she was 17, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned 60 years of love, laughter, and adventure. To this union were four children, Julie, Danelle, Brian and Stephanie as well as, taking guardianship and raising his granddaughter, Jordan. Through every joy and challenge, they stood by each other's side, creating a home full of laughter and warmth. Whether working hard, raising their family, or enjoying quiet evenings side by side, their love remained constant, a testament to a lifetime well spent together.

Dellan lived life with passion, humor, and just the right amount of mischief. Farming and John Deere tractors were a lifelong love of his-so much so that if it wasn't green and yellow, he probably didn't trust it. Whether working the land or simply admiring his collection, he could talk about tractors for hours, and if you let him, he absolutely would. Classic cars - especially his prized convertibles - were another one of his great loves. His time as the owner of Julio's in Hayward, MN, was legendary, where he perfected the art of storytelling, making friends, and ensuring that no one left without a smile (or at least a good-natured ribbing). NASCAR Sundays, singing shows, and being the loudest, most charismatic person in the room were just a few of his specialties.

Dellan never met a stranger-only future friends who would inevitably fall victim to his quick wit. His humor was infectious, his presence unforgettable, and his legacy will live on in every roaring laugh, every rev of a classic car engine, and every perfectly timed joke shared among friends and family.

In honor of Dellan, the family asks that you share a joke, tell a great story, and, if possible, take a spin in a convertible with the top down-just as he would have wanted.

Dellan is survived by his children: Julie (Barry) Hahn of Alta, IA, Danelle (Ron) Zimmerman of Reno, NV, Brian (Kristi) Hagen of Albert Lea, MN, Stephanie Hagen of Albert Lea, and Jordan (Cody) Elias of Cleveland, MN; his grandchildren: Cory Zimmerman, Ashley Hagen, Brett Hahn, Casey Zimmerman, Aaron Hagen, Kelsey Zimmerman, Dixie Murl, Ethan Hagen, Dusty Murl, Kyrie Murl, and Cassidy Murl; his great-grandchildren: Maliah and Braxton Elias, Hartley and Tilly Parker, Milo and Chandler Miller and Violet Hagen; his siblings: Betty Hanna, of Lake Mills, IA, Nylene (Gilman) Thompson of Twin Lakes, MN, Bernette Nelson of Wells, MN, Bernard (Cheryl) Hagen of Albert Lea, MN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Connie Wadding of Albert Lea, Dennis (Becky) Boone of Texas, Louise Hagen and Maryls Hagen.
