Visitation for David Arthur Olson of Albert Lea, Minnesota will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Thursday, October 20th, 2011 at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Reverend Dwight Netzer will officiate a memorial service at 6pm following visitation. Interment will be held at 11 am on Friday at Lakewood Cemetery in Albert Lea.

David passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on the 16th of October 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He was 69 years old.

David was born on the 13th of November, 1941, in Albert Lea to Harlan and Doris (Clausen) Olson. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1960 and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

A life-long resident of Albert Lea, David was known for his many interests. He was a designer, inventor, and patent-holder as owner of Olson Manufacturing. He enjoyed a love for architectural design, and built his family home on Fountain Lake. He enjoyed sports, motorcycles, and taking his family on vacations. David was a forgiving, generous, and caring man.

David is survived by Colleen Olson and their children: Shannon (Stephen) Ostrowski of Prior Lake, MN, Kirsten Olson of Albert Lea, MN, Jessica (Ben) Conway of Chatfield, MN, Alexia Olson of Minneapolis, MN and Rachel Olson of Los Angeles, CA: grandchildren: Madaline, Shannon, Cash, Weston and Joshua; sisters: Judy (Bob) Evans of Excelsior, MN and Jane (Doug) Atkins of the Virgin Island; many nieces and nephews.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Doris Olson; and daughter, Carla Olson in 2008.
