The Funeral Service for Darwin “Darvey” W. Toenges of Albert Lea , will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Reverend John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Shady Oaks Cemetery, Pickerel Lake Township . Visitation will be from 5-7 Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea , and one hour before the service at the church. Darvey died on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center. He was 83. He was born on August 16, 1926, in Pickerel Lake Township , the son of Wesley and Hulda (Klukow) Toenges. He attended grade school in rural District # 57, and later Albert Lea High School . He married Vivian Troe on October 7, 1945, at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Darvey farmed east of Conger all of his life. He had livestock and also sold seed corn. In 1984, he retired due to health problems and in1996 Darvey and Vivian moved into Albert Lea. He was a member of First Lutheran Church , and also the Elks Club. Darvey had been on the board and was sexton for Shady Oak Cemetery for many years. He was a “Mr Fixit” and was very handy at fixing mechanical things and also was the “neighborhood” welder. He loved being surrounded by people and especially enjoyed a game or two of cribbage or huckleybuck Darvey was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed watching or listening to a game whenever he got the chance. Darvey will be greatly missed by his family, wife Vivian of Albert Lea, four sons: Larry Toenges of Albert Lea , Vergil (Emy) Toenges of Modesto , CA , Daniel Toenges of Albert Lea , and Charles (Jill) Toenges of Lexington, MN, seven grandchildren: Todd (Darlene) Toenges of Modesto, CA, Colby (Samantha) Toenges of Turlock, CA, Meka (Alan) Nielsen of Albert Lea, Sara Toenges (John Levell) of Albert Lea, Mindy Toenges (fiancé Tim Mann) of Albert Lea,


Brad Toenges of Minneapolis, Jason Toenges of Michigan; 4 step grandchildren: Kent Boyum, Tracie Anderson, Troy Anderson, Andrea Anderson; 8 great grandchildren: Jewel and Jenna Toenges, Tye and Piper Toenges, Brianna and Madison Mann, and Hannah and Chloe
Larson; brother-in-law Duane Troe and his wife Sonja of Albert Lea, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Hulda Toenges, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Helmer and Myrtle Troe , sister and brother-in-law Aline and Alton Rogert and daughter-in-law Lora Toenges. Memorials suggested to First Lutheran Peace and Power, Crossroad Community Hospice or donors choice.
