Memorial Services for Dale R. Christenson, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Reverend Curtis Zieske will officiate. Military honors will be accorded. Dale has bequested his body to the University of Minnesota for research. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery at a later date. Dale died at his home on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He was 83. He was born on January 5, 1930, in Albert Lea, the son of Charles and Arlett (Flannagan) Christenson Dale attended Albert Lea Schools. He enlisted and proudly served our country in the US Army from 1947 until his Honorable Discharge in 1953. When he returned from the service he made Albert Lea his home and worked for Continental Castings, Wilson's and then Streater until retiring. He married Merna Thompson and they were later divorced. He married Delores O'Rourke who prededed him in death. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and watching Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
Dale also enjoyed family get togethers and spending time with family and friends. Dale is survived by his children: Marsha (Dick) Hansen of Albert Lea, Mark (Jeanne) Christenson of Hartland, MN, Nathan Christenson of Albert Lea, Anthony "Tony" Christenson of Albert Lea and Dale (Kimberly) Christenson of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Amber (Mike) Mahle of Rapid City, SD, Tabatha Kormann of Albert Lea, Natalie Christenson of Emmons, Matthew Christenson of North Carolina, Joshua Christenson of Little Canada, Rachel (Tom) Loken of Knapp, WI, Tiffany Christenson of St. James, MN, Travis (Amanda) Clark of Albert Lea, Dalene (Cameron) Prindle of Fairmont, MN, Dale Christenson Jr. and his fiancé Crystal of Welcome, MN, Jacob Christenson and his girlfriend Kari of Clarks Grove, MN, many great grandchildren; two sisters Marcelle Vandersyde of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathryn VanGuildner of Albert Lea, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores O'Rourke, brother Charles "Jake" Christenson, grandsons Chad Hansen and Spencer Christenson and brothers-in-law Max Vandersyde and Lloyd VanGuildner.
Dale had an excellent spirit and will be greatly missed. Blessed be his memory!
