Cory Johnson

Funeral Services for Cory J. Johnson, 40, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 16 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Reverend John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6p.m.-9p.m. on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before services. Cory died unexpectedly, while at work, on Monday, June 11, 2018. He was born January 17, 1978, in Albert Lea, the son of David A. and Jolene (Jacobs) Johnson. He attended Albert Lea Schools and then began working in construction. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed building things. For the past two years he had worked at Alamco Wood Products in the finishing department. He married Nickolena Whelan on August 13, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Family, the outdoors, and his pup “Doge” made the “A”- list for Cory. He loved being outdoors, camping, fishing and sitting by the fire. Spending time with and being there for his family were the most important of all. Cory will be greatly missed by his wife Nickie, three children: Jacob Garrison Jr., Kori and Rylee Johnson; his mother Jolene Johnson, of Albert Lea, sister Kelly (Michael) Feuerhak of Austin, MN, brother Scott (Heather) Johnson of Onalaska, WI, grandmother Reedie Jacobs, Albert Lea, father-in-law Brian (Chandra) Whelan, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jamie Whelan (Jessica), Ryan Whelan and Jenna Lowy all of Albert Lea, aunt Patricia Sorenson, uncle John (Carol) Jacobs, several nephews and nieces including Tyler, Trevor, Emily and Benjamin who were very special to him. He was preceded in death by his father David Johnson, grandparents Casper Jacobs, James and Ina Johnson, uncle David Sorenson and mother-in-law Jennet Lorentzen. You could always count on Cory to be there for you, our world will never be the same.
