Obituary for Clifford Wesley Stevens
The funeral service for Clifford Wesley Stevens will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2004 at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, MN. The Reverend Dan Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Veterans? Organizations.
Clifford died on Monday, December 27, 2004 at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 92 years old.
Clifford was born in the village of Alden, MN on December 24, 1912, the son of Roy L. and Bessie Mae (Fessenden) Stevens. He attended Hopkins District #55 rural school. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46 in the South Pacific Theater.
He farmed most of his life in the Ellendale and Albert Lea area. He has been living on his acreage near Manchester for the last 28 years. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and trapping, and in his later years he liked gardening, feeding birds, cats and dogs, working jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. He had an inventive nature and liked to tinker with wood and metal He never had children of is own but loved spending time with his nieces, nephews and their friends.
Clifford is survived by two sisters: Dorothy Hamberg of Albert Lea and Betty and her husband, Chris Larson of Racine, WI; one brother, Roy Stevens and his wife, Bernice of Albert Lea, MN; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Ruth Matthies and Kitty Stephensen; two brothers: Clyde and Herschel Stevens.
His generosity and fun sense of humor will be missed. Blessed be his memory.
