Clayton Severtson

Funeral Services for Clayton F. Severtson, of Glenville, MN, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 28, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. The Reverend James Rushton will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran's Organizations. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church. Clayton died on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Albert Lea. He was 91. He was born on June 2, 1922, in Albert Lea, the son of Alfred and Katherine (Billat) Severtson. He proudly served our country in the US Army from 1942- 1945. Clayt married Marvel Runden on January 13, 1945 in Albert Lea. Clayt, a strict union man, had worked at Wilson & Co. for more than 39 ½ years before retiring. After retiring, Clayt and Marvel lived in the Park Rapids area. Marvel died in 1990, and Clayt returned to live in Glenville in 1997. He had still enjoyed going up to Emmaville, near Park Rapids for the summer months. Clayt had been involved in bowling leagues and the American Legion in Albert Lea and Glenville. He had many happy memories of the fishing trips to Rainy River. Clayt had the gift of gab and loved gatherings, especially birthdays. He thought birthdays were worth celebrating, and made sure everyone he knew got acknowledged either with a card or by sending their name into the radio. Clayt is survived by his children: Cheryl (Richard) Jensen of Glenville, Steven (Julie) Severtson of Glenville, Randy Severtson of Northwood, IA; grandchildren: Jennifer Jensen of Glenville, Melanie (Mark) Waters of Albert Lea, Jamie Jensen of Glenville, Vanessa, Jodie (Bryan) Koller of Wells; great grandchildren: Kendall Gullickson, Caleb Waters, Cole Wenzel, Kent Tostenson and Jackie Wenzel; great great grandson Aiden. Brothers: Richard Severtson of Glenville, Carol Severtson of Glenville, Kenneth Severtson of Albert Lea ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harold and Dawn Runden of Albert Lea, Clifford Bye of Mankato, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marvel J. Runden, his grandson Randy Severtson, His step-grandaughter Jan Jensen, brothers, Val Robert (Leona) Severtson, Roger (Muriel) Severtson, Faye (Gina) Severtson, father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Hannah Runden, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Louise and Orrin Bye, Charlotte Bye, Pat Severtson, Sarah Severtson and nephews Dan Severtson, David Severtson; great nephews: Danny Nielsen, Bradley Frank, great niece
