Charles Lee

A memorial service for Charles A. Lee will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5 to 7p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service (2210 E. Main), Albert Lea and again one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea. Military honors accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Organizations.

Charles A. Lee, of Albert Lea, died on February 23, 2017 at the Albert Lea Medical Center at the age of 88. Charles was born on February 27, 1928 in Albert Lea to parents, Simon and Ellen (Christensen) Lee. He was a lifelong Albert Lea resident and active member at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Chuck graduated from Albert Lea High School and entered the U.S. Navy. On October 10, 1948 he married Beatrice D. Olson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

Chuck was a Union Representative for the United Food & Commercial Workers. He was instrumental in the union-sponsored developments: Senior Court in 1972 and Senior Tower in 1982 built through HUD. Chuck was also instrumental in the reorganization of the Hillcrest Cemetery Association in 1987.

In his free time, Chuck enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing in Canada, and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion and the Elks.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Lee; son, Michael C. Lee (Cindi) of Rochester, MN; granddaughters, Dr. Melissa Lee Lund (Aaron) of Albertville, MN, Dr. Heather Lee of Minneapolis, MN; brothers, Kenneth Lee (Darlene) of Blairsburg, GA, Gary 'Fuzz' Lee (Mona) of Mankato, MN; sisters-in-law, Arlene Lee of Albert Lea and Sheila Lee of Seattle, WA; numerous wonderful cousins; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Linda Kay (premature baby) and Linda Sue (Leukemia at age 15); sisters, Beulah Lillefloren (Ken) and Joyce Sward (Roger); and brothers, Simon Lee and Richard 'Dick' Lee.
