Obituary: Charles Martin Boyer
The funeral service for Charles Martin Boyer of Albert Lea, Mn. will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday July 14, 2007 at St. Theodore's Catholic Church. The Reverend James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be at St. Theodore's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church. A Prayer service will be held at 7:00p.m. Friday after the visitation. Military Honors will be accorded.
Charles died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center. He was 85 years old.
Charles was born March 12, 1922 at Bancroft, Iowa to John and Helen (Sanftner) Boyer. He attended Ellendale High School until the family moved to Alden, Mn during his senior year and then graduated from Alden High School. Charles entered the United State Army on October 16, 1942 and served as a Military Policeman. He received the Army American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal, WWII. Charles was discharged from the service on December 19, 1945. Charles married Ellen Mae Leidal on February 27, 1946. Charles worked as a checker clerk on the loading dock for Wilson Foods Co. for 36 years. He retired May 1, 1983. Charles was a member of the Senior Citizens and the Moose Club. Charles helped his father tile many area farm fields. He enjoyed doing bookkeeping and helping others with their taxes. Charles also enjoyed reading, dancing, watching the Twins and Vikings. His family was very important to him. He especially enjoyed his two granddaughters.
Charles is survived by his wife Ellen Boyer of Albert Lea; children: Charles David Boyer of Clarks Grove, MN., Barbara Lou Boyer of Plymouth, MN and Donald (Rick) Boyer and his wife Karen of Albert Lea, MN; granddaughters: Tracy Barwald and her husband Eric of Mankato, Mn, and Kelly Johnson and her husband Nic of St. Michaels, MN; brothers and sisters: Walter Boyer and his wife Rose of Albert Lea, MN, Francis Boyer and his wife Margaret of Jackson, MN, William Boyer and his wife Ramona of Albert Lea, MN, Marjorie Bice of Albert Lea, MN and Lyle Boyer and his wife Jeannie of Albert Lea, Mn; many nieces and nephews.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; son: Thomas Allen Boyer; sisters: Luella Bergen, Dorothy Boyer and Anna Petersen; brothers: John, Richard and Art Boyer.
