Bruce Lang

Memorial services for Bruce W. Lang of Albert Lea, MN will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, MN. Pastor Mark Rosenau will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home and from 3 until 4 PM Wednesday at the St John’s Lutheran Home Chapel. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea. Bruce passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at St John’s Lutheran Home. He was 66 years of age. Bruce was born the third of seven children to Richard and Betty (Betow) Lang on November 18, 1951. He attended both Glenville and Albert Lea Schools and graduated in 1969. Bruce loved to hunt both deer and water fowl. He enjoyed spear fishing and working on cars. He liked playing cards and being with friends. He was very easy going and had a wonderful sense of humor. Bruce worked at Wilson Foods until his accident in 1971. Due to his injuries he was admitted to St John’s Nursing Home where he remained with his second family on second north. He continued to bring joy to others and kept his friends laughing. Bruce was able to participate with Gillette Specialty Centers working with a speech therapist to develop several different communication devices to assist people unable to communicate in the traditional way. He was published in one of their magazines, and was able to communicate which was amazing! He was loved and will be missed by both of his families. He married Ellen Bray in 1970 and together they had a son in 1971. They later divorced. Bruce is survived by his son Bruce Lang Jr. of Hammond, IN, sisters Sandy (Richard) Lestrud of Albert Lea, MN, Terry Lang of Owatonna, MN, Barbara Bothum of St. Cloud, MN, brothers Walter (Kim) Lang of Farmington, MN, and Ronald Lang of Northwood, IA. Other survivors include nieces Kathy Talamantes, Brenda Wyant, Amanda Carlson, Brandy Hughes, Bethany Bothum and Jessica (Russ) Kleinschmidt. Nephews include Richard Lang, Simon Lang, and Robert Bothum along with many great and great great nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Betty Lang, niece Tamera Praska, great niece Chrysta Moffit, nephew Michael Anderson and brother David Lang in December of 2017.
