Beverly "Bev" Newgard

August 28, 1943 — December 8, 2024

Beverly Joan Newgard left this world on December 8, 2024, at the Prairie Senior Cottages in Owatonna, Minnesota, after a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on August 28, 1943, in Tyler, Minnesota, she was the daughter of William and Bernice Krause, and was raised alongside her brothers and sister in Lake Benton, Minnesota.

After graduating high school, Beverly pursued a passion for hairstyling, obtaining her cosmetology license in Mankato before beginning her career in Owatonna. Throughout Beverly's 50 plus years as a stylist, she made countless friends and became a trusted confidant to many who sat in her chair. It was here that she met her beloved husband, David Newgard, and the two were wed on November 9, 1963, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake Benton.

She had an infectious laugh, a sense of humor that sometimes brought out her feisty side, and believed in working hard and playing hard. Beverly and David instilled in their children a strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, and love for life. Their home became a warm haven, the backdrop for countless family gatherings where they created beautiful memories filled with laughter and love. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who she loved and cherished above all.

A lover of sports, Beverly enjoyed participating in her Wednesday bowling league, where she made lifelong friendships, and would avidly watch games of Gopher and Vikings football. She was a very spiritual person and happily volunteered for the church choir, ladies circle, and serving groups throughout the years. Whenever possible, Bev and Dave would enjoy traveling together, often making trips to enjoy the warmth of Arizona in the winter.

Welcoming Beverly home are her husband, David; parents, William and Bernice; and her sister Janice Ahern.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Kellie (Ken) Petranek, Karrie (Paul) Moen, and Christopher (Linda) Newgard; nephew Randy (Linda) Ahern; six grandchildren, Nash (Jenna) Petranek, Dylan (Brooke) Moen, Seth Petranek, Brady Moen, Bodie Newgard, and Cruz Newgard; two great-grandchildren, Beau and Banks Petranek, with an expected addition, Baby P, arriving in January; brothers Jim and Steve (Shirley) Krause; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and countless friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a service celebrating Beverly's life at 11:00 AM on December 14, 2024, at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva, Minnesota; visitation will begin one hour prior. Bev will be inurned at Geneva Cemetery following the service.
