The memorial service for Betty Jane Lundberg will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 15, 2007 at Vista Evangelical Covenant Church, rural New Richland, MN. The Reverend Steve Thompson will officiate. Burial will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Lund Covenant Cemetery, Stockholm, WI. Friends may visit with the family one hour before the service at the church. Friedrich Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Betty Jane died on Friday, October 12, 2007 at New Richland Care Center, New Richland, MN, after struggling with failing health over the last year. She was 70 years old.
Betty Jane was born on February 17, 1937 in Lake City, MN, the daughter of Russell and Myrtle (Steien) Lundberg of Pepin, WI. She grew up on a farm outside of Pepin together with her parents and two brothers and three sisters.
She graduated from Pepin High School in May of 1955, and in June of 1955, she married Darrel K. Lundberg also of Pepin, WI.
Betty and Darrel and their four children farmed in rural Pepin until May 1971, when they moved to New Richland, and have resided there ever since.
Betty was an active member in the Vista Covenant Church. She and her husband, Darrel, served as Vista Church custodians for almost 20 years. Betty taught Sunday school at various times, assisted with Wednesday night youth group activities, and participated in Bible studies. She also served as deaconess at various times.
Betty is survived by her husband, Darrel of New Richland; four children and their spouses: Donna (Keith) Hullopeter of Pepin, WI, Julie Ryden of Waseca, MN, son, Kenneth of New Richland and son, David (Karen) Lundberg of Ellendale, MN; 15 grandchildren: Heidi (Gene) Turner of Shakopee, MN, Jeremy (Lynsey) Hullopeter of Owatonna, MN, Tim (Ali) Hullopeter of Pepin, WI, and Tom and Sandy Hullopeter of Pepin, WI, Ryan Ryden of Grand Rapids, MI, Robyn Ryden of Milford, MI, Ross and Ronja Ryden of Nykoping, Sweden, Isaiah (Brooke) Lundberg of Hartland, MN, Sarah (Ricky) Long of Ellendale, MN and Samuel, Hannah, Anna and Benjamin Lundberg all of Ellendale, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob, Evelyn, Lillian and Breckin Hullopeter, Calob Hullopeter, Gidion Long and Selah Rae Lundberg. She is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Monroe (Joyce) Lundberg of Riverfalls, WI, Romaine (Elwyn) Westberg of Mesa, AZ, Kathy (Garrett) Auth of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Lois (Charles) Laehn of Durand, WI; brother-in-law, Curtis (Marjorie) Lundberg of Spring Valley, WI and Verneal (Robert) Hood of Terre Haute, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
