Betty Hren

Services for Betty Lou Hren, of Duluth, who had lived near her daughter in Clear Lake , Iowa since 2011, will be held at Peace United Church Of Christ 1111 N 11th Ave E Duluth MN on Friday October 17, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Her final resting place will be in Calvary Cemetery, Duluth MN. Betty Lou Hren was born on September 30, 1932, in California, the daughter of Paul and Nora(Zabrocki) Witzman. The family moved to Duluth MN where Betty attended St. Jeans Elementary and graduated from Cathedral High School. She received her business teaching degree from St. Scholastica College of Duluth. She married Charles A. Hren and they made their home and raised their 3 children in Duluth. Betty began teaching typing and shorthand in Wrenshall, MN. She was transferred to Chuck's alma mater, Denfeld High School in 1962. Her teaching career continued for 26 years at a variety of local schools including Woodland Jr. High School, East High School and Duluth Central High School before she retired in 1988. Betty was best known for her warm beautiful smile and big blue eyes. She loved jazz music and enjoyed watching the good old classic movies. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake treats and sweets for the special people who touched her life. Betty was at the Hospice House of North Iowa in Mason City, when she died on Monday, September 29, 2014. She was 81 years of age. She will be lovingly missed by her children: Laura Lovik of Clear Lake, IA, Kevin Hren and Kristy Hren both of Duluth, MN, granddaughters Erika and Lexi Lovik of Cedar Falls, IA; brothers Bob (Linda) Witzman, Paul Witzman Jr. both of Duluth, MN, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and two brothers Duane and Kenneth Witzman.
