Obituary for Beth Audrey Sorenson
The funeral service for Beth Audrey Sorenson will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, September 4, 2004, at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, MN. The Reverend John Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Our Saviors Cemetery, Kiester, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
Beth died on Thursday, September 2, 2004, at Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 92 years old.
Beth was born in Minneapolis, MN on April 4, 1912, the daughter of Charles A. and Amy Isabel (St. John) Barnes. She attended high school in Ellsworth, MN and was a 1934 graduate of Naeve Hospital School of Nursing earning her RN degree.
On September 18, 1937 Beth was united in marriage with Joseph D. Sorenson in Ellsworth, MN. During their marriage they had lived in Northwood, Iowa, Kiester, MN, Clear Lake, Iowa, Blue Earth, MN and Albert Lea, MN. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and had been active in circle and WELCA.
Beth was proud of her RN degree and worked at Albert Lea?s West Side Clinic until retiring at the age of 70. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of many bridge clubs. She was a people person and enjoyed spending time with her friends and being with her family.
Beth is survived by her daughter, Betty (Duane) Kapplinger of Kiester, MN; three grandchildren: Kathleen (Marlin) Anderson of Kiester, MN, Kim (Nolie) Kapplinger of Spring Grove, MN, Kent (Eunice) Kapplinger of Fargo, ND; six great grandchildren: Mitchell (Becky) Anderson of Rochester, MN, Paula (Gary) Hitterdal of Kasson, MN, Annette Anderson of Rochester, MN, Jill (Ty) Huber of Chicago, IL, Jenny (Tyler) Clemmentson of St. Paul, MN, Jamie Kapplinger of Sioux Falls, SD; five great great grandchildren: Jordan and Elijah Anderson, Preston and Morgan Beth Hitterdal, Isaiah Huber; one sister, Jean Davis of Albert Lea, MN; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe in 1983; grandson, Timothy in infancy; three sisters; one brother.
