Funeral services for Berline Cedella Johnson of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor John Henriksen will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 until 7 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Oakland Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died Thursday morning at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center. She was 82 years of age.
Berline was born July 19, 1925 in Oakland Township, Freeborn County, the daughter of Martin and Betsy (Slinde) Wangen. She attended public school in Freeborn County and was baptized and confirmed at the Oakland Lutheran Church. On October 8, 1943 she was united in marriage to Ernest Johnson at the Oakland Lutheran Church. Berline then became a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and was active in the church circle. She had been employed in sales with the Better Brush Co., and later with the DeSota Egg Plant. She also made alterations for Gildners Clothing Store.
In her free time, Berline enjoyed quilting and sewing. Together with her husband Ernest they wintered in Arizona for 25 years. She had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews and thought of them all as her own children.
Berline is survived by her brother Walter and his wife Fern Wangen of Oakland, MN, sisters Alice and her husband Merrill Lee of Albert Lea, MN, Irene and her husband Norman Johnson of Ellendale, MN. There are numerous nieces and nephews surviving. Two special people in her life were Nicole and Crystal Rentz.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Arnold (Buddy) and his wife Janice Wangen, and infant brother Ivan Wangen. One niece also preceded her in death, Kathleen Johnson.
