B. Hoffman

The Funeral Service for B. Martin Hoffman of New Richland

will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Trinity

Lutheran Church in New Richland . Pastor Paul Andree will officiate.

Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery . Visitation will be from 4-7 on Saturday, June 27, at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland and

one hour before the service at the church. Martin died on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the New Richland Care Center at the age of 80.

He was born on March 15, 1929, in Wadena , Minnesota ,

the son of Bernard and Bertha (Martin) Hoffman. Martin attended country school in the Wadena area until he was needed to help on the farm. When he was 18 he got a job as a hired hand on a farm near

New Richland . Later his work on the Ackman farm gave Martin

the opportunity to meet Geraldine Mae “Gerry” Ackman. They were married on September 25, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. Martin and Geraldine bought the Ackman farm and he continued farming until his health no longer allowed. It was later when his children were in school that he too pursued his education and was so proud to have obtained his G.E.D.

He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had been

a member of the Lion’s Club. He loved children and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed square dancing and traveling. He will be lovingly missed by: two daughters Victoria and her husband Dan Ress of Chaska, MN, Cheryl and her husband Jon Perry of New Richland; four grandchildren: Kelsey Ress of Minneapolis, MN and her special friend Phil Pappano, Brenna and her husband Gerard Ouedraogo of St. Louis Park, MN, Jessica and her husband Brian Ferg and their daughter Avery of Baldwin, WI, Lucas Perry of Minneapolis and his fiancé Desirae Mills; ten siblings: Theresia Ostlund of Wadena, MN, Evelyn and her husband Kenneth Toft of Ellendale, MN, Russell Hoffman and his wife Rita of Moorhead, MN, Francis Hoffman and his wife Marilyn of Richfield, MN,

John Hoffman and his wife Gloria of Yorba Linda, CA, Leo Hoffman and his wife Pam of Deer Creek, MN, Louise Johnson of Pine City, MN, Ray Hoffman and his wife Sue of Wadena, MN, LaVern Hoffman of Las Vegas , NV , Julie and her husband Steve Kingsley of Wadena; brother-in-law Harold Ackman and his wife Bonnie of Waseca, sister-in-law Alvina Frank of Shoreview , MN , and many nieces and nephews. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geraldine in 2004, sister Bernice Hanson, brother Bobby in infancy, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Martin’s keen sense of humor, bright eyes, and the sparkle he shared with all around him will never be forgotten.
