Remembering the life of Arvilla Anderson...
The funeral service for Arvilla P. Anderson of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Ascension Lutheran Church. The Reverend Mark Boorsma will officiate. Interment will be in East Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Arvilla was born on November 24, 1924, in Foster Township, near Walters, Minnesota, the daughter of Jesse G. and Luella W. (Miller) Urbain.
Arvilla was baptized and confirmed at Rice Lake Evangelical Church. She married Clarence N. Anderson on March 17, 1948, also at her home church. In 1952, they moved to a farm N.E. of Albert Lea where they
farmed for many years. During this time they were members of East Freeborn Lutheran Church. In 1983, they moved to town and became members of Ascension Lutheran Church.
In addition to farming with her husband, Arvilla had worked as a cook at the truck stop and also worked for 15 years as a housekeeper at Good Samaritan Center.
In her earlier years she had served as 4-H leader for 10 years and bowled as many as 3 times a week for many, many years.
Arvilla made many things out of needlepoint and lovingly made many quilts for her family. She was known by many as the "Lefsa & Pie Lady". Arvilla and Clarence made more than 300 dozen lefsa during the holiday season. She also enjoyed bus trips and fishing.
Arvilla died Wednesday, November 28, 2007 surrounded by her family at her sons home. She was 83.
Arvilla is survived by her husband Clarence of Albert Lea, two sons Eugene Anderson and his wife Irene rural Albert Lea, Curtis Anderson and his wife Shirley of Garner, Iowa, grandchildren: Tammy(John) Krowiorz, Jesse (Rita) Anderson, Andy (Nyna) Anderson, Nathan (Luz) Anderson, Melissa (Nathan) Noland and Amanda (Andy) Braun, great grandchildren: AJ & Ashley Krowiorz, Kari, Hannah, Lane & Isaiah Anderson, Kristian & Wesley Anderson, Christopher & Aurora Anderson and Christopher and Carissa Noland; sister Ethel Steele of Albert Lea, twin brother Orville (Lorraine) Urbain of Wells, brother-in-law Kenneth (Sarah) Anderson of Albert Lea and aunts, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Arvilla will be remembered for her strong faith and all the food and quilts she made with her loving hands.
