Remembering the life of Arne P. Jensen...
The Memorial Service for Arne Peter Jensen of Ellendale, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. The Reverend Arne Halbakken will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by Steele County Veteran's Organizations. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National
Cemetery. Friends may visit with family one hour before the service at the church.
Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arne died on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea.
He was 77.
He was born on August 1, 1930, at Sherwood, North Dakota, the son of John and Effel (Olsen) Jensen. He moved to Ellendale with his family in 1931.
He attended school in the Ellendale area and Ellendale High School.
Arne served our country in Korea for 13 months. Corporal Arne Peter Jensen received the Korean War Medal with 3 bronze stars and the United States Service Medal. He was inducted on August 27, 1951 and left the states on the 13th of January serving with the Engineers Battalion, building roads on the front lines. He received his honorable discharge in 1953 and left Japan for home on April 13th. Arne always said 13 was his lucky number.
On January 9, 1954, he married Shirley Ann Stutsman, they were later divorced.
On September 17, 1974, he married Cleota Jensen. She was killed in a car accident on June 11, 1991.
He was a truck driver for Creamery Supplies in Owatonna and NationalTree Service also in Owatonna. He later worked for the Minnesota State
Highway Department stationed out of Albert Lea until his retirement.
He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3723, American Legion Post 77, Amvets, Cooties Fez-Ents Pup Tent of Waseca.
Arne loved outdoor sports, fishing, hunting and traveling. He loved to read watch TV, play solitaire and spend time with his friends. He gave many hours of
volunteer work to neighbors and area parks trimming trees.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Knutson of Rochester, 2 granddaughters: Missy and her sons Breckin and Cullen of Rochester and Nicky Knutson of Coon Rapids; one sister Arlene Busho of Ellendale whom he had lived with since May of 2004; two nieces Waynetta (John) Gentry of Miami, Oklahoma and Annette Busho of Owatonna; one nephew Waylen (Jayne) Busho of Ellendale, four great nephews a one great niece, and one great great nephew Cody. He will also be missed by special friend Del Fitzgerald of Owatonna.
He was preceded by his wife Cleota, his parents John and Effel Jensen, step-son Dean Jensen, one brother-in-law Waylen Busho Sr. of Ellendale.
