Alvin Putman

Memorial services for Alvin W. Putman of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St Theodore Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups. Alvin died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin, MN, he was 89 years of age. Alvin was born September 1, 1929 in Hartley, Iowa the son of George and Anna (Johansman) Putman. He graduated from high school in Spirit Lake Iowa and received mechanical and driving training in California. He served his country in the US Navy being discharged in 1954. On June 14th, 1965 he was united in marriage to Janice Majerus. Alvin lived in Albert Lea most of his adult life and worked as a dairy farmer, carpenter, parts man, delivered Winnebago campers and delivered the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He was an avid Minnesota Twins Fan, enjoyed bowling, travel, showing dairy cattle in Iowa and Minnesota and his pet dog “Penny”. Alvin is survived by his children Meg (Jerry) Brady of Clear Lake, Iowa, LoriAnne Marquardt of Mankato, MN, Angela (Jim) Larson of Albert Lea, MN, June (Richard) Hodsdon of Stillwater, MN, Alvin Putman Jr. of Albert Lea, MN. Grandchildren include Jonathan Marquardt, Jeff Marquardt, Alicia Peterson, Nick Lee, Shaina French, Charlie Marquardt, Amber Lee, Ethan Marquardt, Ashley Lee, Kelsea Tufte, Spencer Larson, Zachary Larson, Sean Putman, Mikayla Putman, Tim Hanson, Tom Hanson, James Hanson and April Juel. Great grandchildren Caleb Marquardt, Carter O’Connell, Damion French, Branson French, Erik French, Autumn Carpenter, Kylee Carpenter, Khiylr Lee, Lucas Lee, Mason Marquardt, Aubrey Marquardt, Oliver Marquardt, Kira Goulet, Taylor Marquardt, Carmen Marquardt, Emma Hanson and Norah Hanson. One sister survives Alice Triggs living in Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janice, sisters Melba Frank, Clara and daughter in infancy.
