Funeral services for Alton Virgil Dahl of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups. Alton died Thursday evening at Mayo Health Systems Albert Lea, MN. He was 85 years of age. Alton was born February 5, 1926 the son of Alvin and Vivian (Overgaard) Dahl. He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School and served his country in the US Navy during WWll. On April 11, 1952 he was united in marriage to Myrtle (Beano) Emmons in Emmons, MN. Alton had been employed by the Streator Company for many years as a truck driver. He also was owner and operator of the B & B Café in Albert Lea. Alton was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the Albert Lea VFW. Alton is survived by his children; Craig and his wife Lynn of Rochester, NY, and their children Shelby and Cassidy, Margie and her husband Al Sanders of Burnsville, MN, and their children Nathan (Laurie), Courtney and Erik, Ross and his wife Kris of Willmar, MN, and their children Gretchen, Taylor (Melissa) and their children Hali and Oliver, Bryce (Fiancée Elizabeth) and their son Haakon, Graham, Todd and his wife Nancy of Burnsville, MN, and their children, Tyler, Brandon and Brett, Peter (Chris) and significant other Maribeth of Andover, MN, and their children Aaron (Fiancée Breanna) and their son Braydon, Kolby, Amy and her husband Jamie Tufte of Ham Lake, MN, and their children Gavin, Tanner, Riley and Tessa; brother
Roger (Arla) Dahl, sister Carolyn (David) Schmitz
and sister-in-law Jeanine Dahl all of Albert Lea, several nieces and nephews.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Vivian, wife Myrtle (Beano), Brother Paul, Sister Gloria, infant sister Marjorie and granddaughter Lindsey daughter of Ross and Kris. Alton was a wonderful provider for his family. He had a passion to enjoy life and make the most of it. He was a compassionate and caring person with a big heart. Your kids and grandchildren will dearly miss you.
