Obituary for Almon A. Miller



The funeral service for Almon A. Miller will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Vista Evangelical Covenant Church., rural New Richland, MN. The Reverend Richard Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Vista Covenant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland and one hour before the service at the church.



Almon died on Friday, July 23, 2004, at Owatonna Hospital, Owatonna, MN. He was 96 years old.



Almon was born in Vivian Township, Waseca County, MN on May 16, 1908, the son of William and Bertha (Schrader) Miller. He moved with his family west of Otisco as a small child and attended rural school through the 8th grade.



On October 11, 1933, Almon was united in marriage with Lois Heath in Waseca, MN. In 1936, they moved from Waseca County to the family farm in Berlin Township, Steele County and Almon lived there until in December, 2002, when he moved to Infinia at Owatonna. He was a member of Vista Evangelical Covenant Church and had been a Sunday School Teacher and active in the Homesteaders group. Besides farming he had also worked as foreman for Hagen Pea Viner for many years. He had been Clerk of School Dist. #46 in Steele County for 4 years.



Almon was a good neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed woodworking and liked to fix things.



Almon is survived by his five children: Neva (Ed) Anderson of Rockford, IL, Eloise (Hilding) Johnson of Owatonna, MN, Arlo (Marion) Miller of Owatonna, MN, Lowell (Kathleen) Miller of Owatonna, MN, Adrian (Deb) Miller of Boulder City, NV; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Raymond Miller of New Richland; one sister, Ruth Olson of Owatonna, MN; many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois in 1984; one great grandchild; five brothers: Melbourne, Clarence, Bennie, Marvin and Earl as a baby
