Allen Myrom

The Funeral Service for Allen R. Myrom, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, July 31 at Thorne Crest Retirement Community, 1201 Garfield Ave, Albert Lea. The Reverend Tom Biatek and Chaplain Julie Schaffer will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran's Organizations. Friends may visit from 2:00 until the time of the service at Thorne Crest. Memorials preferred to Thorne Crest, American Legion, or the Smithsonian. Allen was born on April 10, 1926, in Cambridge, MN to Casper and Fern Myrom. He attended school in Cambridge and graduated Cum Laude from Hamline University. He served our country as a B-29 Flight Engineer during WWII. After graduating college, he worked as a chemist-in-charge in the lab at Wilson & Co. in Albert Lea, MN. There he met Wanda Claire Keeler and married her June 28, 1953 at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. Allen and Wanda loved to travel, which they did extensively, to all parts of the US and Europe. He also loved gardening – growing the most beautiful roses. Allen passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014. He was 88 years old. He is survived by sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mildred Myrom, Shirley Schroer, and William (Merlene) Keeler; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Claire Myrom; parents, Casper and Fern; mother-in-law, Edith Mowery Keeler; and siblings, Russ, Herbert, Carl, and Mary.
