Funeral services for Alice M. Thompson of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Alice, a resident of Thorne Crest Nursing Home in Albert Lea, died surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Mayo Health System in Albert Lea following a brief Illness. She was 87 years of age.
Alice was born on May 15, 1925 to Arthur and Evelyn Anfinson in Freeborn County. She attended school in Albert Lea. On January 1, 1944, she was married to Adrian M. Thompson in Albert Lea, Minnesota. They made their home in Albert Lea, Ellendale, and Brownsdale, MN. She was always a very hard working wife and mother, helping Ade with farm work and also working at various jobs throughout their married life. She enjoyed playing card games with friends and family, snowmobiling, dancing, watching the Twins and Vikings, and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were all so special to her and she doted on each one of them, loved following their sports and other activities, and was so proud of their accomplishments. The last two years she has lived in Thorne Crest Nursing Home where she was gently and lovingly cared for by the staff. The family is so grateful to the staff for their many kindnesses and friendship they have shown to Alice and her family.
Alice is survived by her sons Roger (Bev) Thompson, Owatonna and Gary (Ginny) Thompson of Albert Lea. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeff Thompson, Minneapolis, Michelle (Brad) Romer, Albert Lea, Christine (Darren) Hanson, Ellendale, Kari (Tom) Larson, Hutchinson, MN, and Jill (Jim) Johnson, Albert Lea. There are 11 great grandchildren surviving, all who loved her so much. They are Kennedy Thompson, Austin, Brandon Antl, Duluth, Zach, Alex, and McKenzie Romer, Dillon, Jarred and Kaylee Hanson, Jake and Ellie Larson and Luke Johnson. She left a very special place in all of our hearts, she taught us by example to work hard, be humble and to love each other and we will miss her so much. She is also survived by her sister Irene (John) VanRiper, sister-in-law Sue (Dan) Hudson, sister-in-law Joan (Elmer) Vandenhuevel, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Brother Richard and his wife Beverly and Brother George Anfinson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Orlando and Bernice Thompson.
